On September 24th & 25th over 500 dedicated educators, emergency responders and community members joined to become more knowledgeable and be better prepared in the area of school safety.
Nationally recognized experts in the field of school safety volunteered their time to address the attendees and answer questions. Lt. Col. Dave Grossman, the foremost expert in the field of human aggression was the keynote speaker.
The Bolingbrook Police Department and the DuPage County Bomb Squad simulated a bomb threat and hostage situation on a school bus. The live simulations showed attendees how to deal with such situations if they were to occur in their school districts as well as showing the partnership and response needed from local fire and police departments.
Overall the conference was a great success and we are in the early planning stages for 2009!.
